Urban Farming
Solidaridad West Africa, with support from OIF, is building the capacities of 150 female members of the “Coopérative des femmes pour la production, transformation et la commercialisation du vivrier de la Marahoué” (COVIMA) in Côte d’Ivoire to develop income-generating activities. This is under the Socio-economic Resilience Building of 150 Women Members of the Cooperative COVIMA project.
The one-year (October 2021-September 2022) project seeks to improve the hashtag#financial inclusion of hashtag#women through the setting up of Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs). The project will also reinforce the technical capacities of women for food crops production through the mechanization of irrigation systems of vegetable farms.
Additionally, the initiative aims to increase women’s participation in the management of the households and hashtag#decisionmaking process within the community through the couple’s seminar approach and to improve women’s knowledge of basic nutrition.
The project, which is an initiative under the “Fonds la Francophonie avec Elles” by OIF, is a response to the socio-economic impact of Covid-19 on vulnerable populations.
COVIMA, which is one of the cooperatives that Solidaridad West Africa works with under its cocoa programmes, will benefit from Solidaridad’s expertise in building the resilience of the targeted 150 women in the Marahoué region in Cote d’Ivoire.
